784 miles from Dallas to PCB

Hi Everybody! Its 9am (BREAK TIME) on this lovely Monday morning in Dallas...and i had this idea last night in my sleep that i would create a blog. I came to the conclusion that this was an excellent idea for several reasons.... 1) my family is miles away and they need updates... 2) I've always wanted to start a journal -but i don't want to add it to the list of things i need to run back in the house to get in the case of a fire. 3) because whether I'm good at it or not, i like to write....and 4) because life after college is BORING and i need something to do during break at work...

With all that being said, I will update my blog when there is something to be said. Dad--add this page to your favorites because I know you will be on everyday reading about your interesting and beautiful daughter's life...and you will need to update mom because we all know she wont read it. Sam--maybe this is something you can do while trying to procrastinate at the library. (you're welcome)

So.....I've left Dallas and ventured to the beautiful Las Colinas, Texas. It is about a 15 min drive from Dallas. The better news is that it's only 10 minutes and no traffic away from the workplace.(those few extra minutes of sleep are just what i needed)

Mom came a few weeks ago to decorate my new apartment- shes so good at that. Her flight arrived Thursday evening around 6pm into Dallas Love Field. As i am preparing to pick her up, i think of what we should do that night. I am thinking Mi Cocina in West Village for some mexican food and Mambo Taxi's (the famous margarita of Dallas.) The steak fajitas and brisket tacos are a tex-mex epiphany and they will not serve you more than 2 Mambo Taxi's (nuff said.) As the airport police ride around on scooters making sure no one STOPS (forGODssake) in the "pick-up" lane at Love Field, I drive about 2 miles an hour and hope mom can jump in the car with her bag (containing my bedding and window treatments) without dying.
We make it out of love field alive and its time to begin the evening on the town. I thought i would be nice and ask mom what she wanted to do before suggesting Mi Cosina. That turned out to be a bad idea. She said, "what do you mean-what do i want to do? Let's get started. Let's run by your apartment so i can drop of my things and get a lay of the land...then we will go to HOME GOODS and get  some artwork at least." (side note: she said just get started...maybe 'some' artwork.)

8 pieces of art later, a chair, mirror, two bowls, and some table decorations, i was debating on whether we should call Bryan and get a little truck help. Mom, her 'get er done' self, knew we could just stuff it in the Acura and keep shopping. That is precisely what we did. Needless to say, we were done when they closed--only because that was the only option.

In the power shopping mode, we got everything done for the apartment in 2 days, and it was time to relax. We ate dinner with Bryan, my new boyfriend. Mom likes him. Samantha loved him-she nicknamed him BOB. No one knows why. She's weird. He did say he was glad mom and sam liked him because those are the two hardest to win over (the mom and the sister.) HAHAHAHHAHAHA..he doesn't know the Reverend Steve Bates.

The apartment looks amazing thanks to Lori Bates Interiors, and I am all settled in. I'm growing up 784 miles away from home! pictures to follow!
